Katie Booth and Jon Worsnop’s Marbella destination wedding was a dreamy affair set in sunny Spain. The couple first met eight years ago at the gym and were engaged in a Manchester escape room. Despite changing their plans due to the pandemic, they managed to pull off a stunning three-day wedding weekend that was filled with surprises, from singing waiters to dancing LED robots.
For their ceremony, the couple chose the stunning Anantara Villa Padierna Palace in Benahavis, Marbella. The venue boasts a gorgeous amphitheatre and beautiful pink buildings that has played host to celebrities like JLo and Obama. “If it’s good enough for them, I knew it had to be for us,” Katie said.
Katie wore two Berta dresses for her Marbella destination wedding: a fishtail gown with a long veil for the ceremony, and a chic and sophisticated number for the evening. For her second dress, she had the train and lining removed for a see-through look. Her nine bridesmaids, including Katie’s mum who was matron of honour, wore dresses in white and were all fabulous with matching white floral arrangements.
Jon looked dashing in a white tux from The Bespoke Tailor, while their sons, Cassius and Austin, wore matching tuxedos. The couple’s floral arrangements were done by the great Pedro Navarro, and Katie wanted it to be like a Disney fairy tale with hanging flowers.
The bride’s role as the planner and coordinator of her own wedding allowed her to bring her unique vision to life. Her attention to detail shone through in the personal touches. Is not easy at all planning a destination wedding abroad. Kudos for that! Certainly all the guest were delighted about the whole experience of the Marbella Destination Wedding
Their wedding ceremony was made personal by their sons, who brought the rings in dressed as security with briefcases to the Men In Black soundtrack, which surprised everyone. As Katie walked down the aisle to A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman, “I was nervous waiting at the top of the staircase with the bridesmaids and the children, but once the violin started I was fine.”
For their first dance, Katie and Jon chose Diamonds by Rihanna, with an acoustic version to start and then a fast version. Ella Shaw, who came second in Britain’s Got Talent, sang live for their special moment. The couple had plenty of evening entertainment, including singing waiters, sax, bongos, and dancing LED robots.
The couple’s four-tier wedding cake had a floating heart, which tied in with the heart-shaped theme of their wedding, as Katie’s engagement ring is a heart. Hearts were also incorporated, for example, into their napkin accessories, adding a lovely touch to the overall pink decor.
The couple’s advice for couples in the planning stages of a destination wedding abroad is to choose a venue where all your guests can stay overnight. “Because it was abroad and all guests stayed in the hotel, I had to manage all the hotel room availability, and when people changed dates, that was hard,” Katie said.
