Photographing Mia & Chris’s breathtaking Greek Orthodox wedding in Madrid was truly a privilege. This destination wedding united a charming couple from New York who chose to celebrate their love story in the heart of Spain.
Nestled just outside Madrid, the majestic Castillo de Viñuelas provided a regal backdrop for the most memorable union. The castle’s stunning architecture and expansive outdoor spaces offered the perfect ceremony and reception setting.
The Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony was a beautiful display of tradition and spirituality. The rich symbolism and ancient customs captivated guests as the priest led the couple through the sacred rites. The ceremony included the Dance of Isaiah, where the priest guided the bride and groom in a circle three times around the altar, symbolizing their first steps as husband and wife.
Following the ceremony, guests were treated to a variety of Greek wedding customs, including Koufeta, sugar-coated almonds, that represent fertility, and the new life that begins with marriage. The lively atmosphere was further enhanced by a Greek band that kept everyone dancing well into the night.
As the night progressed, the wedding reception transformed into an electrifying celebration with the start of “La Hora Loca”. The dance floor exploded with energy as guests donned colorful costumes and waved light sticks. LED robots joined the party, creating a futuristic disco atmosphere. The bride and groom led the charge, adding to the excitement with fog cannons and elaborate accessories.
Capturing the love between Mia and Chris against the backdrop of Castillo de Viñuelas at their destination wedding was truly inspiring. From the solemn moments in the Greek Orthodox ceremony to the joyous celebration that followed, every aspect of this wedding was a testament to the couple’s love and cultural pride.
